BONDING AND TRAINING AN OLDER DOG - UPDATE

This forum email was posted by David September 14th, with the picture of Candy that I had sent to him, taken shortly after I  was asked to enter Candy in the Seiger (she did get her SG rating 10-18-08).  Her temperament wouldn’t have passed at the time I got her, however; with the group helping with socializing her, she made it!   Let me also state that the reason the breeder chose to keep Candy’s sister instead of Candy was because Candy had NO grips for schutzhund so she would require to much work to even try to get her a schutzhund title and her sister was biting a schutzhund sleeve at 6 months of age, all perfectly good reasons for the breeders choice between the 2 dogs, as they were the same in conformation, good teeth, hips and elbows.  As a breeder, then you would try to place Candy with someone that will train and show her.    This was David’s title and email after I had sent him that picture of Candy:

Subject: Diamond in the rough

Cindy is to humble to brag (much) so I thought I would post the latest
picture of her new project.  Started out with a dog no one else wanted and  with a lot of hard work, some (typical for Cindy) unreasonable expectations,  help
from her dog friends and a unique vision of what she wants for her future  she
has really started to make something out of Candy.  Much work to be  done yet,
but the potential is starting to show.

This was my reply to that forum email:

Now David…*grin*, I have worked with a trainer that believes he can get almost anything accomplished when it comes to dog training, how can you expect me to be different…*grin*  my expectations might be unreasonable but with 2 git-r-done type people, expectations should be high, we get further than ever thought in the beginning could happen, right?… :-)  So yes WE have much work to do yet, but I am hopeful.

Unreasonable Expectations ?   Maybe David was being prophetic with that subject line.   Me, well as I said I am still hopeful, here is why.
David finally tested Candy after the Seiger  and knew the direction to take with this dog.  This video clip is the 2nd training with David.   Click Here for Video

Unreasonable Expectations ?   I think I know my trainer. :-)
