Hi Tommy,
I was very pleased with the full litter... David has seen and actually has trained with 3 out of the 5. He also was with a 4th of that litter, the other female also. I guess he would have a better idea on them than me for sure, but I think he will see at least 3 of this litter for continued training. I will post some new snapshots of training when I get some. I still have Brena one of the females.

Manona,

A GSD bitch can get pregnant on her very first heat cycle. But, should not be bred until at least twenty months and not until you have completed her health checks. Hips, Elbows perhaps eyes depending on the bloodline. You can get hips certified with several different organizations. OFA, Pennhip, SV in Germany. Just depends on what your breeding goals might be.

You can get a lot of information from the German Shepherd Club of America, Schutzhund USA, WDA or the AKC.

A nice website for doing pedigee searches is www.pedigreedatabase.com

I would suggest you find a breeder you can trust and try to learn from them.

Sorry I've got another question. Where do you find good temperament studs? To you own both the bitch and the stud, or look for the perfect match? I'm very new at this breeding thing. I would like to know everything before I try. And one more question, is the a book or website that has good advice and step by step instructions of how to breed and raise GSD's or the common term dogs?

How old would you say a GSD bitch can become pregant? Not to early like a teen pregnancy. Thanks

Jamie, This is an educational blog. Not an opinion blog. If you have information about why GSD's should have long hair then we would like to hear all about it.

You sound like the plush coat shepherd is inferior to the short coat. Maybe you need to contact some breeders in Germany and ask them about your theory. From what I was told, they normally do not allow a U.S. bred GSD to breed to one in Germany. The U.S. breed is not considered to be bred for the purpose it was meant "working/herding dog" but just for show. If you notice most law enforcement agencies will import the dog they want to use. The long coat shepherd has a place in the original bloodline of the German Sherherd. This DNA post you made is misleading and your mention of breeding policies are not correct.
