GERMAN SHEPHERD PUPPY KENTUCKY HUNTING

I got a new Flip Video Camera, great little camera for all of you thinking about Christmas gifts.  What I like most about the camera is the ability to pull good snapshots off the video.  They have a great software package on it.  I prefer to pull natural conformation show stands verses man made show stands as you can see the natural conformation looks of the dog or pup.   Then I am able to crop out just the picture I want.   The same goes with any motion shots, pulling that snapshot off to get that perfect picture, something very natural and very hard to do with a snapshot camera.  This picture came out of this video picture, off video of a German Shepherd puppies first exposure to hunting day.

The pup, 12 weeks old, was let out first and alone, to not deal with the other dogs that are used to this day.   I think this is a pretty natural show stand for a German Shepherd puppy, and I love the picture of her.  Getting video of her by herself also tells me more about the puppy, as being within the pack tends to give an added confidence verses dealing with things by herself.  She did great hearing gun shots all around the farm  through the day, and I am please how she will investigate things.  Brena’s training continues and is for sale if you are looking for a German Shepherd  puppy in Kentucky.  Hunting video clip click here.

German Shepherd puppies are really fun to watch when exposed to something totally new.  Opening day for dear season in Kentucky was yesterday.  I don’t know about anyone else, but my German Shepherds love hunting season, and would be out in the hills with the hunters if they could, they believe they are “hunting dogs” especially when we are talking about herding the dear right up to you and they just want opportunity to prove it!!  Haha   They have had to learn to just patiently wait for the hunters to return though, as the hunters always share some of the catch with the pack of dogs, and of course you can be sure of the guarding abilities of the German Shepherd, that no one will take the catch once here.

I would love to hear from David (25 year breeder and trainer of GSD’s) on this clip of the puppies first exposure and his take on her response with her being just 12 weeks old.  I was very pleased how Brena has done on everything so far, but I don’t have the experience to be the judge of it.  I do enjoy getting first reactions from pups on video though.
